ART NIGHTS @ GATE VILLAGE

The month of May sees the return of Art Nights @ Gate Village, a series of art focused events taking place at DIFC Gate Village; a contemporary urban area that’s home to art galleries, boutiques and restaurants.

Art Nights combines elements of art, music, film and design through a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, where people can come together in a relaxed setting, to mingle and unwind after work, while enjoying the creative experience.

Alongside new exhibition openings and special events by the galleries, Art Nights will also feature live performances by the band Noush Like Sploosh and singer/songwriter Gayathri. Guests will also have a chance to win a fabulous dinner giveaway by La Petite Maison.

The end of the season Art Nights @ Gate Village will take place at the Gate Village podium level on Monday, May 2 from 7:00pm – 9:00 pm.

"Euphoria & Beyond"

The Empty Quarter Gallery has invited critically acclaimed Palestinian artist Steve Sabella, whose work was recently acquired for the permanent collection of he new MATHAF Arab Museum of Modern Art in Qatar, to present three new bodies of work in Dubai. In "Beyond Euphoria", Sabella relinquishes all bonds with representational photography to make room for a new order of things. "Love in the time of Unrest" by Behrang Samadzadegan

XVA Gallery invites you to enjoy nibbles and drinks and a chance to view the two ongoing exhibitions by Hadieh Shafie and Behrang Samadzadegan. Shafie explores beauty and liberation from the body through thousands of tightly wrapped Farsi scrolls packed together creating concentric motifs. Samadzadegan's work simultaneously depicts hope, regret and optimism. Reflecting on our inability to accept sadness and gloom, the artist fuses the whimsy of contemporary popular culture with appropriated press images.

Noush Like Sploosh

8:30 pm

Noush Like Sploosh

A transmedia artist whose philosophy is grounded in innovation and multi-dimensional storytelling, Noush is an award winning, multi-skilled, edgy singer-songwriter whose music, drawings and films share underlying themes of grotesque, vaudeville and nostalgia. Her sense of whimsy and play is often contrasted with dark, comedic elements. Their first video '3 Act Circus' was an attempt at bringing together her diverse talents into a single vision: where her music meets her visual art in the form of stop-motion animated film-making. The video was selected to screen at the recent Gulf Film Festival.

Together with Aaron Kim (cello), Hadi Farra (guitar) and Sinan Al-Jawad (drums), the band will be performing live exclusively for Art Nights @ Gate Village.
