Updated DIFC Data Protection Law

Overview

The updated Data Protection Law, DIFC Law No. 5 of 2020 and supporting Regulations have been enacted and will come into force on July 1. The new DP Law and Regulations set out expectations for Controllers and Processors in the DIFC regarding several key privacy and security principles.  It combines the best practices from a variety of current, world class data protection laws, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act and other forward-thinking, technology agnostic concepts to enable the DIFC to be a leading financial and technology center promoting ethical data sharing.  Please join for this kick-off event to celebrate the effective date of this DIFC milestone.

The session will cover the following:

  • Key changes to the law
  • How it may affect your business
  • Where the Commissioner’s Office plans to lead the DIFC next

Please note: If you joined on 4 March and 18 May, the content will be similar, to ensure that interested people who could not attend previously can be reached.
