Ahmed Humaid Al Tayer interacts with Dubai Judicial Institute trainees as part of ‘Continuity between Generations' program



Program provides interactive platform to enhance communication with local leaders and develop potential and skills of judicial trainees in line with international standards

Dubai Judicial Institute (DJI), a leading centre of law studies and judicial training in Dubai, has hosted today (Monday, April 19, 2010) a new session of "Continuity between Generations Program" attended by H.E. Ahmed Humaid Al Tayer, Governor of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) who was the keynote speaker of the activity, and Dr. JamalAlsumaiti, Director General of Dubai Judicial Institute (DJI). During the event, H.E. Ahmed Humaid Al Tayer exchanged experiences with 26 prosecution trainees and 8 trainees who are preparing to become judges.  

The Continuity betweenGenerations Program constitutes a judicial sciences diploma program for aspiring judges, and a judicial sciences diploma program for prosecutors. The program was established in line with the Institute's goal in 2010 to adopt best judicial practices and raise community awareness about judicial and legal matters and their role in achieving sustainable development.

H.E. Ahmed Humaid Al Tayer, Governor of the DIFC said: "I am glad to participate in the new session of the program, which is a vital initiative to enhance communication and sharing of experiences with next-generation leaders and to highlight the importance of improving legal and judicial knowledge. I would like to commend the Dubai Judicial Institute for its efforts in promoting the role of law as a main foundation for building a knowledge-based, integrated society and in support of Dubai's vision to achieve safety, security and justice. We certainly look forward to taking part in many initiatives undertaken by DJI in the near future in order to improve law enforcement and develop the country's judicial system in accordance with the highest international standards".

"Continuity between Generations Program aims at sharing experiences of many prominent local officials with the Institute's judicial trainees to be a motivation for the new generation of law practitioners, prosecutors and judges to continue the excellence and progress achieved by the Emirate. Ahmed Al Tayer, who is one of the most important leaders to have made significant contributions in strengthening the position of Dubai as a regional hub for growth and development. Our keynote speaker has worked in many ministerial and administrative positions, and was recognised as the Best Arab Banker for 2006, having made key contributions to the development of the banking sector in the UAE. The meeting featured many discussions between H.E. Ahmed Al Tayer and the judicial trainees, which will be crucial in the development of their potential, skills and knowledge in theway that meets international standards. This visit reflects the confidence in the Institute's role to achieve legal excellence, which drives us to sustain our efforts in deploying best judicial practices in the region," said Dr. Alsumaiti.

The Dubai Judicial Institute was established in 1996 to help educate and train aspiring judges, prosecutors and their assistants, legal experts and lawyers. DJI also offers rehabilitation programs for public prosecutors to enhance their efficiency. The Institute also provides training and consultancy services to various agencies and institutions - both private and public – and conducts research and studies in all areas of law and jurisdiction, locally, regionally and globally.
