DIFC Announces for Public Consultation a Proposed DIFC Law Amendment Law and Proposed Amendments to the Data Protection Regulations
Press Release 18 Jun 2017 11:34 amDubai, UAE – 18 June 2017: Dubai International Financial Centre Authority (DIFC Authority) has announced for public consultation a proposed DIFC Laws Amendment Law, DIFC Law No.4 of 2017 (“DIFC Laws Amendment Law”), and proposed amendments to the Data Protection Regulations.
The proposed amendments apply to the following laws and regulations:
• Court Law 2004 (“Court Law”)
• Data Protection Law 2007 (“Data Protection Law”)
• Data Protection Regulations
The DIFC Authority is proposing to enhance the Court Law to bring certain provisions of the law in line with international best practices and to stay ahead of growing trends in commercial litigation.
The DIFC Authority is also proposing changes to bring clarity to the Data Protection Law, and to also bring the Data Protection Regulations in line with international best practices and to stay ahead of recent regulatory developments in Europe.
The proposed DIFC Laws Amendment Law and proposed amendments to the Data Protection Regulations have been posted for a 30 day public consultation period with the deadline for providing comments ending on 17 July 2017.
