Following the summer break and marking the start of Dubai’s new season of art related events, the much anticipated return of DIFC’s Art Nights @ Gate Village will be held on Tuesday, October 16 from 7-9 PM. Aimed at highlighting the significant role that DIFC Gate Village holds in the development of the arts and culture of the UAE, the forthcoming Art Nights will present a diverse program of events.
Combining elements of art, music, design and cuisine, Art Nights will offer a relaxed setting in which Dubai residents can encounter all that DIFC has to offer as one of the city’s most popular centers. Showcasing a wide range of talent, Art Nights will emphasize the great extent to which art has become essential to the Dubai experience.
Sponsored by Quintessentially Lifestyle, this edition of Art Nights will present several new gallery exhibitions, live music, prize giveaways, special events and performances. Of note are a special preview of Christie’s upcoming auction highlights and Art Dubai’s pop up bookstore.

The evening will be complimented by Break DJ Lobito’s tunes, two live music performances by singer/songwriters Zem Viv and Abbo, live art installation by Emirati artist Maisoon Al Saleh, as well as an interactive drum circle by Sound of Brazil.

This Argentinian whose group name means “tripe” in Spanish uses “plasticine” to create a kind of work that is complex by its richness in color and texture.

The Young Collectors Auction Catalog
We’ll also be giving away catalogs of the 8th edition of the Young Collectors Auction. Comprising over 60 lots and featuring painting, sculpture, photography, silkscreen, and installation works from renowned and emerging artists throughout the region, the auction will take place on October 22 at the Ayyam Art Center.

Cuadro launches the season with four shows. Ammar Al Attar's ‘Prayer Rooms’ presents these makeshift rooms across the UAE, highlighting their stillness and serenity. Manal AlDowayan’s ‘My Name’ installation of prayer beads carries the names of Saudi women, addressing the custom of never uttering a woman’s name. Athier's ‘Hold Me In’ explores whether construction is deconstructing Arab heritage and identity. Sinisa Vlajkovic presents less obvious aspects of the UAE landscape in his ‘Genius Loci’ series, amalgamating natural and social elements into one ephemeral unit.
‘Street Art Show’ – Various Artists
Opera Gallery Dubai presents six major street artists: SEEN, Mr. Brainwash, Mohammad Khodashenas, Charles Munka, Paul Alexis and Blek le Rat. These six artists work with many of the same materials, incorporating pop culture and referring to contemporary art, but ultimately each provides a distinct perspective from which to view modern-day life.

Art Dubai Books
Following the success of ‘Another Bookstore’ at Art Dubai last March, in collaboration with Jashanmal Bookstores, we’re bringing back our pop-up bookshop. Hosted by Cuadro Gallery during ‘Art Nights @ Gate Village’ the bookshop will feature a selection of art publications including artists’ books, monographs and magazines, many of which were sourced together with artists, galleries and Art Dubai friends and family.
The seventh edition of Art Dubai takes place March 20-23, 2013, at Madinat Jumeirah.

Sounds of Brazil is an event management company, specializing in Brazilian and Latin entertainment.
‘Mirror Mirror on the Wall’ by Noura Masri and Anne Gedeon
‘Mirror Mirror on the Wall’ is an atypical collaborative project between acclaimed Palestinian artist Noura Masri and Lebanese Jewelry designer Anne Gedeon that will unwrap a marriage of art & fashion. The unique limited edition collection of real 'art' includes individually crafted pieces, each is expressive in its own original way.
‘Movement or Motility’ by Maisoon Al Saleh
u concept has commissioned Maisoon Al Saleh to carry out a site specific installation during Art Nights. Maison Al Saleh is one of the youngest Emirati artists and entrepreneur who has successfully established herself in her hometown, Dubai and globally. Get involved as she creates an intriguing installation called "Movement or Motility", where she explores the movement of cells across DIFC's pathway based on her observation of her surroundings.
