Mrs. Fetooh Al Zayani – Head of Insurance & Reinsurance of the Dubai International Financial Centre Authority (DIFCA), welcomed members of the Insurance Business Group (IBG) to The Gate building for its monthly members’ business lunch. This was the first time it has been held at The Gate and it took place on Wednesday 8th June.
Dr Omar Bin Sulaiman DG of the DIFC is the Honourary Chairman of the IBG. Dr Omar had addressed the very first IBG business lunch in March of this year. The IBG is fully embraced by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry and is the 17th such group to come under its stewardship.
Following Mrs. Al Zayani’s welcome address, Mr Omar El Amin, Chairman of IBG and Managing Director of Arab Orient Insurance Group, spoke to members about recent and upcoming group activities and the challenges and changes the insurance market faces in Dubai. Guest speaker was Mr Obaid Al Tayer, Chairman of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Over eighty representatives from the insurance industry attended the lunch, including leading brokers, consultants and loss adjusters from all over the region.
“This is the first time that the IBG has met here at The Gate and I sincerely hope it will be the first occasion of many. The DIFC is now the new home of the Middle East’s financial world and it is fitting that a gathering of such senior professionals from the region’s insurance industry should be here at this time.” Said Fetooh Al Zayani.
We are delighted to be involved with the IBG which shares our vision for the regional insurance industry – a vision that will see the DIFC working closely with the insurance community in the UAE and the region to raise the profile of our industry.”
Omar El Amin Said,
“I wish to thank the DIFC and particularly Dr Omar bin Sulaiman, for their unstinting support of IBG both in hosting this lunch, and as an ongoing partner.
Together, DIFC and IBG will ensure that the insurance industry in the region develops and matures within the boundaries of established ethical and professional boundaries.”
