Dubai International Financial Centre Concludes Art Nights Celebration with Internationally Acclaimed ArtistsPress Release 15 Mar 2016 01:00 pm
Dubai-UAE: 15 March, 2016 – More than 3,000 art and culture enthusiasts from around the city converged at the Gate Village of Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) for the bi-annual DIFC Art Nights event that hosted internationally renowned talent, unique art exhibitions and interactive live installations.
Part of Dubai Art season and a flagship celebration of DIFC’s cultural calendar, Art Nights highlights the Emirate's growing creative landscape and reinforces the Centre’s diverse community engagement efforts.
The largest and most diverse Art Nights to date, the 2016 edition showcased internationally acclaimed talent Maia Flore and her poetic ‘Imagine France’ display for the first time in the Middle East. Having travelled to more than 18 countries, Maia Flore’s exhibition was inaugurated by His Excellency Majdi ABED, General Consul of France in Dubai.
In addition, Reem Al Faisal Al Saud showcased her exquisite black and white ‘Chiaroscuro’ in the Empty Quarter while Lita Cabellut displayed her woman-empowering artwork ‘Color of Dew’ in the Opera Gallery in DIFC Gate Village.
Some of the highlights also included Beijing-based artist Liu Bolin known for his ‘Invisible Man’ series, introduced Dubai Culture. Through his remarkable work’, Bolin aims to draw attention to crucial social issues by dissolving into the background of his paintings.
The event featured installations by international and regional artists, including Emirati artist Khadija Al Malik’s ‘Harmony’, which uses oil paint, silver and gold leaf to depict the purebred Arabian horses owned by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Furthermore, Fares Jammal and Wissam Moubarak’s ‘Insights into Nature’ and Khaled Zanki’s sculpture display highlighted and resurrected Middle Eastern stories, philosophies and ancient arts.
Christie’s Dubai, the revered auction house also set up an impressive outdoor lounge area for guests as part of its 10th anniversary celebrations at DIFC.
