Dubai International Financial Centre Honours UAE Martyrs on Commemoration Day
Press Release 30 Nov 2015 06:17 amDubai-UAE: 30 November 2015 – Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) today observed the UAE Commemoration Day to acknowledge the courage and sacrifice of the Emirati soldiers who laid down their lives while safeguarding the sovereignty of the country.
The UAE national flag at DIFC's Gate building was lowered in the early hours. At 11:30am, a minute of silence was observed followed by raising the flag to full mast to the accompaniment of the UAE national anthem.
His Excellency Essa Kazim, Governor, Dubai International Financial Centre, said, "On this occasion, the entire nation salutes our soldiers who fought bravely in high-risk conditions and laid down their lives for a global cause. In doing so, they protected our nation and its people. Today, DIFC recognises the valour of our soldiers and pays rich tribute to those heroes who have been martyred."
The UAE Commemoration Day was announced by the UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in light of the nation's participation in the Saudi-led coalition 'Operation Restoring Hope' in Yemen.
