Dubai International Financial Centre Hosts Sports Event on UAE National Sports Day

Dubai-UAE: 25 November 2015 – Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) today hosted a series of social, recreational and sports activities as part of the inaugural celebrations of the UAE National Sports Day.

DIFC conducted a wide selection of community-focused competitive sports including football, rugby, basketball, petanque and mini golf. A kids' play arena entertained children at the venue, while a music performance kept the crowds on their feet. The family day out also featured badminton and table tennis games organised by Falcon & Associates, where friends and families came together to engage in enthralling and friendly competitions.

Commenting on the occasion, Arif Amiri, Chief Executive Officer of DIFC Authority said: "On this significant day, the entire nation has come together to celebrate the appreciation of sports. The DIFC is proud to contribute to this important reiteration of our leadership's efforts to encourage the community to practice a healthy and active lifestyle, promote team spirit and support the cohesiveness of the UAE."

The festivities were aligned with DIFC's commitment to foster a vibrant and dynamic community and promote social activities and engagement.

Specially organised to inspire loyalty and allegiance to the nation, DIFC's celebrations and the wider festivities across the UAE highlight the nation's drive to support excellence and progress even as it steps up efforts to diversify the economy.

Under the directive of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the inaugural UAE National Sports Day themed 'UAE Unites Us' was launched to convene people of all nationalities and backgrounds to highlight the country's diverse social fabric and celebrate its unique national unity and identity.
