Congratulations to Elevision Media on coming in first tonight.”
Dubai kicked off the annual global race series, which now takes place in 11 cities worldwide, and has seen significant growth in popularity since it launched in the emirate in 2016 with an increasing amount of companies coming together for a night of camaraderie, networking and friendly rivalry.
Alya Al Zarouni, Executive Vice President – Operations, Dubai International Financial Centre Authority, said: “We joined the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay runners and celebrated team work and healthy competition among some of the largest corporations in Dubai. The increased interest seen this year demonstrates the enduring significance of the event. We’re delighted to see DIFC become a lifestyle destination for the region.”
Emirates Red Crescent, the official community partner, was presented with a cheque for 25,000 AED to support its charitable programs and projects in the humanitarian field. Following the race, all runners and their friends and family took the opportunity to network with colleagues and peers from all over Dubai in the race village, and at the lively after-party at Bazxar.
James Hassett, Managing Director of the event organiser Square Mile Sport, said: “Our aim is to provide an opportunity for employees to bond and network outside the meeting room and acquire new skills that they can take with them back to their working environment. We are delighted with the enthusiasm we’ve seen from our Dubai runners and with a 15% increase in runners compared with last year, the race continues to grow and we look forward to returning in 2019.”
In addition to Bloomberg, as the headline sponsor, and DIFC, as the venue partner, other partners included, Bloomberg Businessweek, Elevision Media, Dubai Eye 103.8, Bazxar, Bauerfeind and Fitness First. They were joined by official suppliers Four Seasons Hotel, DIFC, Arwa, Coca Cola, Pocari Sweat, and Crystal Gallery.
