HE Dr. Omar Bin Sulaiman Hosts His Royal Highness the Crown Prince of the Netherlands at DIFC
Press Release 21 Jan 2009 01:39 pmHE Dr. Omar Bin Sulaiman, Governor of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and Vice Chairman of the UAE Central Bank, today hosted His Royal Highness Willem-Alexander Claus Ferdinand, the Crown Prince of Netherlands, Prince of Orange; his wife Her Royal Highness Princess Maxima of the Netherlands; and a high-level Dutch delegation at DIFC.
The delegation accompanying the Crown Prince of Netherlands included HE Frank Heemskerk, Minister of Foreign Trade of the Netherlands; HE Gilles Beschoor Plug, Ambassador of the Netherlands to the UAE; HE Kees Van Spronsen, Consul General of the Netherlands in Dubai, senior Government officials and heads of leading business organisations in the Netherlands.
HE Dr. Omar Bin Sulaiman said: “The visit of His Royal Highness, the Crown Prince of Netherlands to DIFC creates new opportunities for the financial industries in the UAE and the Netherlands to explore cooperation and mutual investment. During our meeting with the Crown Prince, we discussed several ways to enhance financial and investment interaction between the UAE and the Netherlands. DIFC has always had a strong relationship with the European Union (EU), with a large proportion of companies in the DIFC financial services community hailing from the region. The Crown Prince’s visit gives us a chance to further deepen these ties.”
The highlight of the Crown Prince’s visit was a Royal Luncheon hosted in his honour at the Capital Club in the Gate Village at DIFC. Frank Heemskerk, Minister of Foreign Trade of the Netherlands delivered a speech at the event.
The Crown Prince later also met with top officials of the Young Arab Leaders (YAL), the region’s foremost development platform for business, public sector and civil society leaders.
