Under the Patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed DIFC Hosts Annual CelebrationPress Release22 Nov 2007 09:35 am
Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, tomorrow (Friday) marks the annual celebration of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), and underlines the global recognition it has gained as the region's international financial centre.
Following the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the DIFC is continuing to play its vital role in driving Dubai, the UAE and the region's next phase of economic development.
Since its establishment in September 2004, the DIFC has become the world's fastest growing financial hub, comprising almost 500 local and international companies. It has also grown into a community of more than 11,000 dedicated professionals of 107 nationalities.
Furthermore, the DIFC is gaining a reputation for driving initiatives outside the realm of the traditional financial centre, promoting education, art and culture to build cultural understanding between the region and the rest of the world.
As a tribute to those who have contributed to its achievements, a world class extravaganza will be held tomorrow evening at the DIFC. The audience will comprise an array of key business and financial leaders from the region and across the globe, Government representatives, DIFC clients and employees. An evening of live entertainment will include a line up of impressive regional and international artists, headlined by Il Divo, the contemporary international operatic quartet, who will be performing for the first time in the Middle East.
The theme of this year's event is "One Voice"- encapsulating how the DIFC is the one place where the worlds of finance, the arts, culture and education come together to speak for Dubai, in One Voice; a voice that is being heard in every financial community across the globe.
The DIFC's annual celebration is considered to be the largest and most prestigious of its kind in the region and is recognized globally. In previous years, performances have been given by world-renowned artists including Andrea Bocelli and Jose Carreras.
The event will be broadcasted live on Sama Dubai TV at approximately 7pm on Friday 23rd November.
The celebration follows on from DIFCweek, a week of conferences, summits and boutique events, which was held from 17th to 23rd November, featuring a selection of prominent strategists and distinguished experts from both the regional and international arenas. DIFCweek, the first event of its kind in the world, focused on the theme of "Financial Opportunities for the Third Millennium" and addressed a comprehensive range of challenges and opportunities in the world's current and emerging financial markets.
